# Agent Skills

The arex Skill lets an agent search, read pages and research through the arex CLI.

## Install

Install the CLI (Node.js 22 or later), save your key with arex setup, then install the Skill. It goes to ~/.agents/skills/arex.

### Shell

npm install -g @arex-research/cli
arex setup
arex skill install
```

## Install for one project

--scope project installs it to ./.agents/skills/arex so the repository can share it. arex skill path prints where it is. If your agent reads Skills from another folder, copy it there.

### Shell

arex skill install --scope project
arex skill path --scope project
```

## What the agent runs

The agent checks setup with arex doctor, then runs commands with --json. arex research waits for the answer and its sources.

### Shell

arex doctor --json
arex search "recent advances in AI agents" --json
arex research "Compare current agent evaluation frameworks" --json
```

## Short command timeouts

Start research with --detach to get the Run id at once, then wait with arex run wait. If waiting stops, wait on the same id again instead of starting a new Run.

arex research "Compare current agent evaluation frameworks" --detach --json
arex run wait <run-id> --json
